Description

Narrowband addition techniques still blow me away.    You'd be hard pressed to find an image that not only retains the reflection nebulae but also has the depth of the narrowband data at the same time.   These techniques I have learned from @Charles Hagen continue to take astrophotography to another level.    What particularly catches my eye is the very core of the Wizard, there is a bright reflection area that often gets completely nuked with narrowband images.    The dust is rather weak in this area unfortunately, but it's definitely there.   Pushing it was a struggle, there was very little structure to be had.  What we did reveal was a small uncataloged object...appearing mostly in the broadband data.

After checking with several experts, this was explained as most likely being an uncatalogued molecular cloud. There is a minor UV signature of the shell in GALEX NUV, but nothing else points towards it being an SNR or planetary nebula.
Since I (Munk) find quite a few objects while hunting for PNe that don’t fit in with the major cataloguing systems (HASH, Planetarynebulae.net, etc), I have decided to hand together with a few fellow hunters and create the sight seeing catalogue, or, SSC. The goal of this is for us to be able to consistently name such objects and provide people for a way to easily find them in a single place! With this in mind, the molecular cloud will be designated SSC-1. With many more to come!

Personally, I'd love to call it Dust Mote Nebula, because frankly, I had to check my flats and make sure they calibrated properly!
